Foot Health week is organised by the Australian Podiatry Association (APODA) each year in October to bring awareness to the importance of looking after our feet. This year in 2023 the theme is “Podiatry – more than you think”.

In the spirit of this theme, this month we’ve listed our most popular educational articles about why the feet are so important to your overall health, and what you can do to maintain healthy feet so that they take you through the marathon of life.

7 things your feet can tell you about your overall health and wellbeing

Good health starts from the ground up. Your feet can tell you a lot about underlying health conditions before they show up anywhere else. From tingly feelings and numbness, to joint aches or ulcers, your feet will show you symptoms that you can attend to before they become a more serious condition.

The feet are an excellent indicator of your overall health, as circulatory and other conditions will often show up in the first. If you suspect you might be experiencing any of the symptoms in this article, such as cold feet, slow-healing wounds or swelling, call the clinic and have your feet checked by our professional and knowledgeable podiatrists.

A little care at home goes a long way to maintaining healthy feet. Checking your feet daily, drying them properly and moisturising are just some of the habits you can begin each day before/after a shower to keep your feet happy!

Caring for ageing feet – how podiatry helps keep your feet in good walking order!

“When our feet hurt, we hurt all over”, Socrates.  When our feet hurt, it affects our entire body. We can’t walk or stand up properly and it makes us irritable and impatient. If you’re over 50 and have walked a few million steps of your life already, you’ll be all too aware of how important it is to maintain good foot care with ageing feet.
